G.B. Industries Sdn. Bhd. acquired DECO Industrial Gloves

G.B. Industries Sdn. Bhd. is pleased to announce the acquisition of DECO Industrial Gloves, a respected name in Australia’s glove manufacturing landscape, effective 30th April 2025.

DECO traces its origins back to the mid-1900s through Whitecross Rubber Products, where it began producing rubber gloves and condoms. By the 1960s, the company expanded into industrial applications — serving foundries, chemical industries, and heavy manufacturing. Rebranded as DECO in the 1980s, it went on to pioneer the development of electrical insulating gloves in partnership with the State Electricity Commission of Victoria. This marked a defining moment in DECO’s journey, laying the groundwork for a product line that has earned trust across utilities and industry professionals.

The relationship between DECO and G.B. Industries has roots that go back to more than two decades. In the early 2000s, G.B. acquired DECO’s glove production know-how, forming the technical foundation for what would become our NOVAX® range — now used in over 40 countries worldwide. While the partnership was a low-key event, the impact was enduring. The DNA of DECO lives on in the products we build and ship every day.

With this acquisition, we are bringing things full circle. “We’re proud to welcome DECO into the G.B. Industries family,” said Ong Boon Kee, CEO of G.B. Industries Sdn. Bhd. “While we’ll be centralising production out of our Malaysian facility, we carry forward DECO’s spirit of innovation and its deep understanding of the needs of Australian customers. This is not a replacement — it’s a continuation, on a broader scale.”
